COVID Key Worker Support
SOS is launching a new support meeting for key workers and their loved ones. The meeting will be a safe space for people working on the front lines of the COVID pandemic to come together and discuss experiences, challenges and how this global crisis is impacting life on an emotional and practical level.
The meeting is for all key workers in medical, logistical and other professions who play essential roles in the current crisis; and also for those people who have close friends and family members in key worker roles.
The meeting will be hosted by Sungyoung Holloway-Zhao, an experienced mentor at SOS who is herself a key worker. Because this is not a general support meeting and is aimed at a specific audience, it will not be listed on the general meeting calendar. Instead, if you are interested in attending this meeting, please click the link below and submit your contact information:
Sungyoung will then contact you with additional information including dates and times.
The COVID pandemic is placing particular stress on people with existing mental health issues, but this meeting is not intended only for existing members of the SOS support network. All key workers and their loved ones are welcome, whether or not you have attended any SOS meetings or events in the past. You must, of course, have a Second Life account in order to participate in these meetings, although we do also plan to create a Discord channel as an additional outlet for ongoing key worker conversation and support. More details will be coming soon.
If you have any questions about this meeting, please contact either Sungoung or Amy Juneau Jaks. If you are a key worker in need of immediate support or would like to talk one-to-one, SOS also has a number of mentors on staff who are key workers. During these unsettling times, remember that you are not alone and that we can come together to help each other through these unprecedented challenges.
