Big things are happening at SOS!

Dear members,

l told you we had some very big news to share, and here it is!!

Survivors of Suicide is growing and moving in ways we never envisioned when this group first started almost 13 years ago. We have passed many milestones in that time, and I am happy to announce that we are about to pass another.

In order to safeguard SOS for the future we have decided to form Survivors of Suicide into a real life charity. We are currently in the process of registering with the Charities Commission in the UK, and expect to complete the process within a year, depending on how long the paperwork takes. We started the process about a year ago, but everything has been extremely slow moving due to covid and lockdowns.

This is a big step for Survivors of Suicide as an organisation, and it will inevitably bring some changes. We are working hard to ensure that there will be as little disruption as possible to the services you have come to enjoy and rely on. That said, we ask that you try to be patient over the coming months as we implement some new policies in order to align ourselves with current legislation regarding charities.

One thing you may already have noticed is that our logo is changing. Our old logo has served us well for over a decade but we thought this was a good time to freshen it up a little. We have kept the SOS monogram and morse code, and incorporated a more stylized version of the butterfly from our old logo into the new, and we think this symbolises our approach to the changes that are currently happening at SOS. We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished as an organisation and as a community, and we want to honour that and bring it with us as we move forward into the next chapter of Survivors of Suicide.

One big thing that is changing very soon is our location. We have outgrown our space on the Legenda sim so we will be moving to a bigger space. Our friends at Linden Lab has offered us a full 20k prim region at their nonprofit rate, and we have accepted. The sim is called Survivors of Suicide and has already been delivered. We are currently building it, and I am happy to announce that we will have a Grand Opening on Saturday the 21st of August at noon SLT. There will be two hours of live music by a couple of SL's best singers, and as always, free cookies!

I really hope to see as many of you at the opening as possible, and I am really looking forward to seeing you all at our very own sim and forever home in SL in the coming weeks and months.

On behalf of myself and the whole SOS team, I send you all the best wishes!

Sincerely,

Sebastien Bouevier
